This was a REALLY big finish for me...design ideas, dense quilting, machine issues including the dreaded retiming, not once, but twice! Probably the major reason it was so big for me was that this quilt will get shown at quilt shows around California and tickets will be purchased...hopefully lots of tickets, too. I really don't want to let my guild down.
This quilt was made by members of my quilt guild and is an original design, isn't it cool looking? I was asked to do the quilting which, of course, caused me great anxiety and many hours of frustration. Anxiety because I really really care to a fault what people think of me and my work, and also I am not an intrinsically creative person...I can copy pretty well, though!!!
Frustration because I stood and stared for way too long and procrastinated far, far, too long!
If you are a machine quilter, you will understand me when I say that it took twice as long as I originally anticipated. One day, oh one day, I would love to be able to somewhat accurately gauge my time on custom quilting!!
Well, thanks for looking through all these pictures, I truly do appreciate you reading my posts!
I love your pictures. I'm not a purple fan (tha'ts just me) but I really likes your fabrics for the stars. About evaluating your time, I usually evaluate it to up to 1 hour = 1 foot square. So a 5' x 6' quilt (i usually do that size for lap quilt) can take up to 30 hours to quilt (and rip, and stich in the ditch....)
ReplyDeleteWell done! Great pic's too! and I get the "one day" thing, I often catch myself staring at a quilt and then have to tell myself to just get on with it! D.B
ReplyDeleteWow- that quilt is spectacular!!! It must have been a ton of work. And worth every second. Just amazing :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt and your quilting is really awesome!! Thanks for sharing at Linky Tuesday! Freemotion by the River
ReplyDeletethrough all the agony you expressed the quilting is excellent from what I can see.
ReplyDeleteS.t.u.n.n.i.n.g! I know just what you mean about estimating time. I even got a timer as an experiment in 'estimating'. But I get so wrapped up in what I'd doing, I forget to set it or check it...I like Chantal's comment above of 1 hr=1 square foot. will have to think about that one for a bit! ha!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing the great pictures-love you thread choices too! I'm sure ticket sales will be brisk!
Wow, wow, WOW! That is fantastic! Colors, pattern, quilting - all terrific. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteKudos to your guild for their design, piecing and colour choices! Your quilting works perfectly to enhance the design. Well done!
