I saw this quilt showcased on Fons and Porter, and then later on my quilting forum. I showed the picture to my daughter Christina. She asked for a quilt like this for her baby boy who will be born in July. It is an interesting technique, and the amount of fabric you cut off and toss seems wasteful for a frugal quilter like me, but I'm doing it. I like the results. In the background you can see my ipad showing the quilt that inspired my daughter.

I love how my wholecloth rendering has evolved...
I copied the quarter drawing four times, taped them together, and voila, I've got a wholecloth rendering! I love it. I've had the quarter drawing enlarged 200%, 225% and 250%, so I'll decide which I like best, and start marking the cotton sateen.

No quilting on my vacation and I'm surviving!
Well, it's DAY FIVE of our vacation, and I have not touched my sewing machine or quilting machine once. I'm not on a Caribbean Island nor across the pond! What I have done is create this drawing for a wholecloth quilt. No, it's not a mistake, this is only one fourth of the complete quilt. I will have it enlarged and hopefully start marking some cotton sateen.

The Quilter's Bed
Ask any quilter what's on their bed, and most will reply that they don't have one of their handmade quilts on their own beds! After many years of quilting, I finally made a quilt for our bed. We've been using it for the last year and I just love it.
Sometimes Understated is Highly Rated
I love the simplicity of this quilt, and the fact that it was made as a gift by a group of women with Angi in the lead. I believe Angi put all the blocks together. Angi is another very generous quilter who really enjoys giving. It was made entirely of scraps, and I believe they used 3 or 4" squares. That's it! Isn't it lovely! I used clamshells on this one, and added the "flair" part of the clamshells in random shells -- not every one -- but randomly. I think it came out lovely.
Vicky's Strip Search
Vicky hasn't seen her quilt yet. She said she made it for a "guy" who probably wouldn't appreciate it. I can't imagine anyone not appreciating this quilt. I love the colors, fabrics, and really love the pantograph I used. I haven't taken a picture of the full quilt yet, but I'll do that and post when I get home.
Traditional Quilting on a Traditional Quilt
Diane made this traditional quilt with beautiful fabrics. She wanted a simple edge-to-edge design so I put on my thinking cap and came up with clamshells! Yes, clamshells are a very traditional type of quilting women have used for 100 years or so, and this quilt reminded me of the Victorian era. I couldn't do just the basic E2E on this because of the distinct borders. So.... I gave this one the clamshells in the center with one small freehand border design, and then had to do piano keys (done with a ruler) on the large floral border. I think it came out lovely.

This quilt shouts out spring!
Joanie made this quilt for a friend... as usual. I believe she used mostly scraps. This is from a pattern called strip search that our friendship group, Loose Threads, made for the month of January. I used a new pantograph that my daughter, Christina, gave me for my birthday last week. I just love it!
