Sometimes Understated is Highly Rated

I love the simplicity of this quilt, and the fact that it was made as a gift by a group of women with Angi in the lead.  I believe Angi put all the blocks together.  Angi is another very generous quilter who really enjoys giving.  It was made entirely of scraps, and I believe they used 3 or 4" squares.  That's it!  Isn't it lovely!  I used clamshells on this one, and added the "flair" part of the clamshells in random shells -- not every one -- but randomly.  I think it came out lovely.

Diane made this traditional quilt with beautiful fabrics.  She wanted a simple edge-to-edge design so I put on my thinking cap and came up with clamshells!  Yes, clamshells are a very traditional type of quilting women have used for 100 years or so, and this quilt reminded me of the Victorian era.  I couldn't do just the basic E2E on this because of the distinct borders.  So....  I gave this one the clamshells in the center with one small freehand border design, and then had to do piano keys (done with a ruler) on the large floral border.  I think it came out lovely.
