Field of Flowers With Closeup Quilting

 Well, I finally have some close up photos of this wall hanging.  It was really fun to make, and I would love to make another one in a different color scheme.  Not sure what, but I sure like it.  It was super easy, too!

  I found the pattern in a magazine that I had laying around for a couple years.  It makes me second guess my past habits of tossing things after a few months if I don't use them.  I just get so tired of all the clutter, but now I think I should just do a better job of organizing.

Bear Lake Utah

 We have a place at Bear Lake Utah, and we love to go there... for the solitude, the quiet, the views... we just love to go there.  Last visit brought some unique views - check out that cloud!  It was so dark and so low, I thought it was going to drop right into the lake.  These pictures were taken from our deck.

That's it, no quilting pics today.  I am working on a really sweet top that is being done with a quick freehand Patsy Thompson style.

Chevron or Zigzag?

 This is my daughter's quilt - she made it for herself for their home.  Love the colors!

This is actually a redo...  Initially I did squiggly lines on the seam lines, but it just seemed too poofy, it needed more quilting, I guess.  So since I love skinning quilts so much (ugh - I really do - just skinning that is, not ripping, I hate ripping) I took out those squiggly lines and did lots more quilting.  I like it!

Field of Flowers

I posted about this a few weeks ago, and it's now quilted, just waiting to be bound.  I can't seem to make it home from work while I still have daylight so I will have to take closeup pictures another day.  Lots and lots of pebbles and paisleys...

What's Cuter than an American Girl Bed & Quilt? and a bunch of other stuff

Isn't this so stinkin' cute?!?  My daughter, http://sheluvs2craft.blogspot.com/, made this bed and quilt, and of course, I did the quilting.  

It has been a busy Christmas here in California.  My first Christmas season without my mom, so thank goodness I had my immediate family around me to help.

Just the girls here... all three of us showed up in long black sweaters and tall boots!  Great minds think alike!

I was trying to get a new photo for my online community since I am now three years older and quite a bit fatter than the last picture.  WHAT HAPPENED TO MY EYEBROWS?!?  I think they are now on my chin!

My other incredible Christmas gift from Amelia and family...  Yep, a kitchenaide!  Making whipped cream!  Love it too!  I had to use it Christmas day.

12 hours later, needle turn appliqué

After 12 hours in the car this is all I have to show. I sure hope I get faster... I am planning on making this Piece o Cake applique quilt.  It may take me five years, but that's okay.  The pattern is called 'my whimsical quilt garden.'

Also this is a test - trying to post from my phone.  update... it worked great!  yippee!  now i need to figure out how to send these as a test vs. an email. 

Lil Twister Quilt

 Christina made this, and I think it is so cute!  I love the fabrics.  I would hang it up long after Christmas.  These fabrics don't shout Christmas, and I love the subtlety.

Here is a close up of what I did in the border - quick and easy.

 I did some simple cc'ing in the twists, and I'm not sure what the background fill is called.  It quilted up so quick.

I want to keep this! - fleur de lis applique

I made this sweet little wall hanging as a Christmas gift for a friend.  I had sooo much fun quilting this up tonight, and now I want to keep it.  My friend is a non-quilter, and I am not so sure she really understands the art.  I don't know if she appreciates it. I am sure she would appreciate it more than a box of chocolates, but I hope she doesn't ask me what she should do with it.  Ugh!  

This was my very first applique attempt.  It was not hard at all.  I just fused it, though.  Then I zig-zagged around the edges.  One of these days I will try some needle turn, but not at on something like  this.

So, my dilemma is...  do I give her a store bought gift, or some accented flour sack towels (useful), or do I give her this?

 I will stitch a black binding on  this.

Is it Possible to Create Too Much Texture?

Maybe...  This is my daughter's quilt.  Isn't it cute?  She had many piecing issues, which I attempted to "quilt out."  haha...  

Anyway, she didn't care how I quilted it, said I could do a real easy e2e, but all that white tempted me to do something more.  

I probably should quilt down those colored parts of the pinwheels to make it a little less texture-ous (is that a word?), but she doesn't care, I don't have time.  So, for now, it will have lots of texture!
